Penhein Glamping

Feel at home in the great outdoors...

Welcome to Penhein.

Penhein is a family-run farm and glampsite in South Wales.

Tucked away in secluded woodland surrounded by endless countryside, our beautiful alachigh tents are cosy and warm and kitted out with everything you need to feel at home in the great outdoors. Escape to nature, leave the world behind, and sleep under the stars in comfort and style.

Pack your adventurous spirit and bring your best intentions for switching off from the hustle and bustle of daily life. There’s so much to discover…

Combining the rustic practicalities of a campsite with the luxury of a boutique hotel and the comfort of home, Penhein offers a surprisingly different camping experience.

Alachigh Tents
An alachigh (“alla-cheeg”) is similar to a yurt and originates from Iran, where it is still used by the nomadic Shahsavan tribe. Our alachighs have been custom-made for glamping; cosy yet spacious, simple yet elegant, with a view to the stars from your pillow.
Inside your tent you’ll find a double bed (or two singles if you’d prefer), two truckle beds and a sofa bed. There’s plenty of room to eat, sleep and relax beneath the high domed ceiling – our alachighs can accommodate a family of two adults and up to four children or a group of five adults.

We named our tents after the woods and fields on the farm; all are the same size and layout and have been decorated in a rustic, country style with a few exotic touches inspired by Persia. Fresh flowers sit on bedside tables made from wooden pallets stacked with vintage Penguin books; comfy beds (proper ones) are dressed in crisp white linen; colourful quilted bedspreads compliment hand block-printed motifs adorning timber-clad headboards. At the top of the tent, above a tealight candelabra, is a skylight for stargazing from the comfort of your bed.

A table and chairs occupy the kitchen area, and the cupboards are well-stocked with cooking essentials, including pots, pans, crockery, and a cool box. The natural springs on our farm supply water to the sink, and there’s a wood-burning stove for brewing your morning cup of tea or coffee.

Last but not least, there’s an en-suite flushing loo attached to every one of our tents.
